television trends

Now that the Emmy's and most fall premiere's have past, we are getting into the heat of primetime TV watching. I love getting home from work and snuggling on the couch with a blanket and tea watching my favorite show. Unfortunately, I usually do that wearing a baggy t-shirt and sweatpants; therefore, I have been on the hunt for fashionable things to add to my nightly ritual. I may be on my couch in the comfort of my home, but that doesn't mean I have to look horrible doing it and that is where these come into play!

style inspiration- kate bosworth

I haven't done a style inspiration post in a while, but I recently saw the movie Life Happens and completely fell in love with Kate Bosworth's style and look. I was "re-inspired" to start this up again because of that. She is absolutely gorgeous and has such a good eye for fashion whether it be a casual trip out for lunch or strutting her stuff on the red carpet. Kate Bosworth has such a great sense of style that I want to try to emulate in some of my outfits. Here are a few photos of outfits she is wearing that I love!

appropriate for golf?

((Chloe K shirt via Urban Outfitters, Blank NYC pants, Gibson blazer via Nordstrom, Urban Outfitter's necklace, Emi-Jay hair tie, Nixon watch, Silpada Modern Maze ring, Tiffany & Co. mesh ring, Mia wedges))

In the last stowaways post I wrote about going to a golf driving range to celebrate a friend's birthday. I am not a huge golfer, so I was unaware of the appropriate attire. Not only that, but I was unsure where the night would take me. I opted to wear a more dressed up outfit (they do say it's better to be overdressed, right?!) for the occasion. Although I did get a few stares, I do like to dress up a bit more than necessary most of the time. I did change out of the wedges into flat sandals though. I wasn't trying to trip and twist an ankle on my first golf outing!

And yes, I do wear these pants too often!

stowaways

So this stowaways post is about a week late. I have been very lazy about updating, but I am hoping that changes ASAP. The weather around here has definitely turned into fall. It has been nothing short of beautiful the past week or so and I hope it stays this way. My friend had a birthday last weekend, so we all went to a golf driving range for some drinks, driving, and mini-golf to enjoy the outdoors. The driving range could monitor the balls you hit, how far they went, and if they hit any of the "mines" on the range. It was neat and surprisingly very fun (not a huge fan of golf over here...)! I am excited to do more fall activities like going to an apple orchard (desperately trying to find one!) or pumpkin patch and watching football with some beers and friends. Happy Fall (officially) everyone!

PS: Did anyone watch the Emmy's or red carpet show? I do love my TV shows, so it was fun to see all my favorite stars on the red carpet and winning some of the awards (go Homeland!)!

the neiman marcus cookie

A woman bought a cookie at the Neiman Marcus cafe and loved it so much that she asked for the recipe. She was told that she would have to buy the recipe and it cost "two fifty." The woman, along with most normal people, assumed she meant $2.50. When she got the bill for $250, she was so outraged that she shared the recipe with everyone she knew so Neiman Marcus could not profit from this anymore. Well, that is the story at least. Whether the story is true or not, the cookie is indeed delicious. Just not $250 worth of deliciousness! My sister baked the cookies while I was the photographer/ intense cookie eater!

two peplum looks

I have always been a fan of the peplum trend. I think it is ultra flattering and can be worn many different ways. My first peplum purchase was this red top and the initial time I wore it, I decided to wear pants. The weather was chilly and you can never go wrong with black skinnies. The next time I brought this blouse out, however, I styled it with black satin shorts and a faux leather coat for a different take on the top. I liked both looks and I love that this top is so versatile. I hope peplum is a trend that is here to stay!

stowaways

As the summer begins to wind down, I have been spending my weekends relaxing and enjoying the last few warm weeks of the season. This weekend was a bit different, however. A few of my best friends were coming into town. It was a great change of pace even if it was a bit exhausting! Seeing my friends for the first time in what seems like forever reminded me how important they truly are to me and how I need to plan a trip to visit each and every one of them as soon as possible! Hope your weekend was filled with fun and friends as well!

fall bark

As the weather began to cool down, we wanted to make a dessert that reflected the beginning of fall. After perusing Pinterest for another good find, we came across the recipe for Fall Bark. I love peppermint bark in the winter, so I thought fall bark must be delicious (turns out it is beyond delicious!). You can use any combination of toppings you choose, but we ended up sticking to the recipe this time around. We used Ghirardelli white-chocolate, which I would definitely use again. Next time, we might add chocolate chips to the recipe as well. Needless to say, we have already devoured the bark!

outfit post- casual outing

((Frenchi blouse via Nordstrom, London Jean shorts via Victoria's Secret, Michele watch, Target ring, bracelet from Peru, Emi-Jay hair tie, Steve Madden flat sandals))

This past weekend I went to an acapella concert on the waterfront. It was during the day and the temperature was scorching, so I had to dress accordingly. My favorite piece of this outfit is the loose, sheer shirt since it can be worn with a pair of black dress pants for a more formal occasion or with jean shorts for a daytime, casual look. By the end of the concert, however, I was soaked from the severe storm that hit the area. Luckily, I didn't opt for an all white outfit!

taco pizza

My family and I have been trying to find new and unique recipes for dinner at the house. After spending hours on Pinterest, we came across the Taco Pizza. It uses a Pillsbury crescent roll as the crust and the taco (aka pizza toppings) ingredients go on top. A huge plus to this recipe is that you can put on an assortment of your favorite toppings and not use others you may not like. It takes no time to make and it is so delicious. We used this recipe. It was so good that I am equally as excited to eat the leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

((boats on the waterfront))

The first week of September proved to be an enjoyable and relaxing one. I spent some time down at the waterfront and watched an acapella group perform. It was a fun and different experience. That was until a tornado warning was issued and everyone in the area had to make their way indoors. We were lucky enough to be by an art gallery, so we were able to peruse various exhibits while we waited the storm out. The bad weather blew over and today we had the most beautiful weather, sunny and 75 degrees. It made me realize how much I love fall and can't wait for more days like these! Hope you all had a great week and weekend as well!
