stowaways

(("when pigs fly" at a sandwich shop))

Last week was an eventful week as we got a semi-snow storm and it was my sister's birthday. We celebrated all weekend long and it was a blast! With the unending cold weather, I am just looking forward to our beach getaway in a few months. I need to get to shopping for it soon. Is it bad that I am already sick of winter? Below is a peek of the past winter week.

Is there anyone more fashionable than Ashley Olsen? I love everything she wears from her everyday street style to her high-end couture outfits. I have been a fan since her days on Full House and she has transitioned into quite the fashion icon. Below are some of my favorite looks she has worn. I have been trying to find ways to emulate some of these outfits for a while now as well as her hair and makeup style. I am sounding like a fangirl now, so I'll stop!

sister style

((Blank NYC jacket, Nanette Lepore corset top, Blank NYC pants, Lucchese cowboy boots))

Back in October, my sister, mom, and I went to the Eric Church/Justin Moore/Kip Moore country concert. It was so much fun and the music was fabulous. I would go back and see them over and over again. My sister wore her standard cowboy boots and a vegan leather jacket (you can see the outfit I wore here). Her outfit was the perfect mix of the country and the city!

shoe organization

When I move into my new apartment in a few months, I am thinking that I am going to change the way I organize my shoes. Right now, some of my shoes are on a stand, others are under my bed, and the rest are in my closet. It is very disorganized and I always forget that I even have some of the shoes and end up wearing the same ones over and over. I have been searching Pinterest for new ideas. Here are some inspirational photos I used to get me started. How do you all store and organize your shoes? I would love any good tips!

I think my favorite is #3. What about you?

stowaways

I am trying to soak up the last 3-day weekend until Memorial Day. I have been relaxing, shopping, and researching how I want to set up and style our new apartment. I have been having so much fun going into different home goods stores and seeing all of their amazing pieces. Other than that new development, this weekend has been calm and that is exactly what I needed. Still into the healthy eating (made healthy cookies this weekend), but I have been splurging a bit lately. I cannot wait until the weather warms up as it has been close to freezing for the past week. I have been thinking about the sun, sand, and ocean waves to get me through the cold spell!

white vegan leather

((Free People jacket via South Moon Under, Olivaceous top via South Moon Under, H&M pants, Michael Kors booties, Nixon watch, Urban Outfitters ring, South Moon Under spiked bracelet, Forever 21 bangles, YT Clothing cross necklace))

I feel like it has been enough time after the holidays to start shopping again. I have been recently trying to save my money now that I will be moving into an apartment soon, but when I went into South Moon Under the other day I just could not resist. I bought this white vegan leather top that I absolutely love. It is very different than the other leather pieces I own because it is a shirt and it is not the standard black color. This jacket is also a new favorite of mine since it is versatile and can be worn now when the weather is still cold, but it can also easily be worn in the spring when an extra layer is needed. I know I will get a lot of use out of my two new purchases!

tone it up 3-ingredient cookies

As you all know, I have been trying to eat healthier in 2013. From past food posts you can tell that I have a big sweet tooth and that I love dessert. When skimming through the Tone It Up blog (great blog for fitness and nutrition plans and tips), I found a healthy cookie recipe. This recipe is so easy because there are only 3 ingredients and all of those ingredients are healthy. No cup of sugar in this cookie recipe! Not only are the cookies easy to make, but they are so delicious! They make a great snack as well as a healthy dessert. I will definitely be making these again whenever my sweet tooth gets out of control!

sunshine days

Since the weather has been so drab lately, I found it appropriate to look at bathing suits to purchase. It lightened the mood and made me believe that warmer days were right around the corner. I love this O'Neill bathing suit from South Moon Under and I think it would be perfect for my beach vacation in a few months! Come on summer get here already!

((Golden Globe ballots))

I am not sure I have seen the sun in about two weeks. For whatever reason it just keeps raining and it is making me seriously crave spring and warm temperatures. This past weekend some college friends came into town for a visit and that is always a fun time. It is good to catch up and reminisce about the old days! The biggest thing that happened last weekend was we finally found an apartment that we love and have signed a lease! I am going to post a lot of inspiration and ideas for the new apartment on the blog. Still trying to eat healthy over here, but it is getting hard. I am trying to find more healthy recipes and I will be sure to share them. Trying to make 2013 the best year yet!

leather and emerald

((Trouve leather jacket (seen here), Abbeline top via South Moon Under, Joe's Jeans pants, BCBG heels, Nixon watch, Kate Spade ring, bracelet from Peru, Tiffany & Co. mesh ring, YT Clothing cross necklace))

Peplum has been all the rage since fall and I have jumped right on the bandwagon. Peplum tops are just so flattering and chic. When those said tops are paired with leather you get a winning combination. I recently wore this emerald top with my leather jacket to meet some friends for drinks. The leather jacket made the outfit more weather appropriate, but I am very excited for the temperature to warm up so I can wear the sleeveless top without a jacket. The top has so many intricate details that should not be kept hidden away.
